The New iPad 3

Top 7 Tablets You Should Get This 2012

If you are in the market for a new tablet, this article hopes to give you some insight into seven different types of tablets you should get for the year 2012.  The one thing you can rely on at Mac Freakers it’s in -depth analysis of each tablet and all the specifications that make them special for your technological needs.

1. Kindle Fire

The first tablet, we will be looking at is the Kindle Fire, and a lot of people see the value in buying one of these instead of the iPad.  Amazon is continuing to create great innovative products that allow people to read books and do all sorts of things on the tablets, so checking out Amazon Kindle for yourself will prove very fruitful for your everyday use.  If you like multimedia, this is a great tablet to check out.

2. Nook Color

Our next top tablet is the Nook Color, and for $169  you have access to millions of apps, songs, and different types of multimedia.  This can be really great for you if you need something cheaper that is able to handle the everyday tasks of keeping you entertained.

3. Eee Transformer Prime

Next up we will look at the EEE transformer prime.  This is the tablet that docks into whatever you need to be, making it a very versatile laptop for if you need to make a presentation at the office or just watch a movie while you were on the train headed to work.  The stylus that comes with this unit is very reliable and this is definitely one of the hottest items of 2012 if you like to multitask and need a piece of technology that can show its versatility at every turn.

4. Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9

Next up is the Samsung galaxy 8.9, and we at Mac Freakers really enjoyed using this one because Samsung continues to make great products .  Loaded with android 3.1 honeycomb and a touchWiz interface, you are in for a good time if you choose to pick this one up.  This is a powerful, sharply contrasted tablet that is blazing fast with a 1 GHz dual core snap dragon processor and enough speed to run laps around the competition.  For those of you who really enjoy a tablet that can take calls as well as run your scheduling apps – this is the one to pick up.  If you happen to get the 3G model, this is good for browsing while in traffic on your daily work commute so you will never have to open up your laptop again and fumble around just to have Internet access.

5. Samsung Galaxy Note

Next up is the Samsung Galaxy Note: this is a very special item as it is a land between the tablet and a digitalized notepad.  With a super AMOLED display, the colors will pop out on the screen and this is a really good tablet for reading books.  If you need to do some heavy research for school, we at Mac Freakers highly recommend this one for you to use.

6. Motorola Xoom 2

How many of you out there have used the Motorola Xoom 2 for yourselves?  We had a chance to try it out for ourselves and we have to say though, it does have its strong points, it pales in comparison to some of the other tablets that we tested ourselves.  If you need more of a low utility tablet for work purpose, this is a good one to check out and it is pretty fast as well.

7. iPad 2

Lastly, the holy Grail of tablets is upon us – the iPad 2 is Apple’s finest achievement until the iPad 3 came about.  With over 140,000 apps alone to choose from, it is no wonder you think of Apple.  Each time the word tablet is brought up.

Apple iPad 2 Wifi VS 3G Review

If you’re going to compare iPad Wifi vs 3g, do you think the added cost of an iPad 3G model is justified over an iPad Wifi? What’s the difference between them?

My research turned up 5 major differences so far. There are more if you care to keep on looking, but these 5 are enough to make a reasonable choice.

Extent of connectivity. The iPad 2 with 3g lets you connect to the Internet both from a WiFi connection or the 3G cellular network, while the iPad wifi models only let you browse the web from a WiFi connection. So if you buy iPad 3g, you’ll be able to surf the Internet anywhere there’s cell phone coverage. With wifi iPad models, you can only connect to the Internet in places where there is a WiFi connection. If you want your iPad wifi to surf the Internet using 3G, you will need to bring another device – smart phone model that has the capability to act like a WiFi.

The iPad 3g price includes built-in GPS service. You get very accurate location fixes in addition to the convenience of needing only one gadget for extensive Internet browsing activities.

Apple iPad 3G

The iPad 3g also means you pay more connectivity costs. You pay an additional U.S. $130 to buy iPad 3g than just the Wifi model. Plus, you will need to avail of a wireless data plan if you want to use the 3G capability. That means anywhere from $15 to $30 additional monthly payments to your carrier, depending on the data plan you get. This usually ranges from 250MB to 2G of data monthly.

Using 3G connection cuts into your battery life. Your usage is shortened anywhere from 2 to 3 hours from the average battery life of 10 hours. That’s not really a big deal unless you don’t have time to recharge where ever it is you’re going to.

Minor differences. The iPad 16g 3g has a side door where you can insert your Micro SIM card. There’s also a section at the back that lets you get better 3G connectivity. You’ll likely want to get a cover for your iPad with 3g to provide protection for these additional sections.

So which iPad to buy iPad WiFi vs 3G? You can probably justify the additional iPad 2 costs for the 3g model if your work involves extensive traveling. Otherwise, if you just want to browse around the house or a cafe somewhere, just buy the iPad wifi 2 version.

Pros
Thinner than the original. New A5 chip offers faster graphics processing, general performance. Dual cameras for video chat, HD video recording, and stills. Improved design incorporates internal magnets for Smart Cover accessory. 3G versions available on AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Improved AirPlay features. Supports HDMI output (via optional adapter).

Cons
Image quality with rear-facing camera is not great. Front-facing camera is not HD. Still no Flash video support. No earbuds included.

Bottom Line
The clear standout in the ever-widening sea of tablets, the Apple iPad 2 brings a slimmer design, faster processing, dual cameras, and FaceTime video chat to a tablet that already had a leg up on the competition.

As we all know that new contenders move into the field, Apple isn’t likely to keep its 90% share of the booming tablet market. But the iPad and the iPad 2 moves the goal posts, by being slimmer and lighter, boosting speed and power, and holding its price advantages, available apps and long battery life. As of now, I therefore can comfortably recommend it as the best tablet for average consumers.

I hope this iPad wifi vs 3G Review has been helpful to you in making a more informed purchasing decision.

iPad 2 3G

Apple iPad 2 3G Review

Model: Apple iPad 2 3G

When it comes to the next generation tablet computer, the iPad 2 3G still remains on top of the market. It may still lack some features on its hardware, but it is still the best prepared tablet for the consumer in the mass market. The only question to answer is whether this second generation iPad can hold its crown as long as its predecessor did.

The Pros

  • A slimmer design of the Apple iPad 3G that handles better, with curved edges that are easier to hold.
  • Adding front and rear cameras provide greater versatility.
  • Faster processor in a surprisingly light 1.3 pound iPad next generation tablet.

The Cons

  • Screen resolution is the same.
  • Still no Adobe flash support.
  • It’s quite slow to charge which makes things inconvenient.

Bottom line
The iPad 2 3G is still the tablet to beat with its extensive app catalog and easy to use interface. It is still an excellent product from Apple.

To be honest, the two cameras were added to support Apple’s FaceTime video chat app, which is also available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and Mac. Though it’s a cool thing to see people’s faces at actual life size on the iPad 2 3G’s 9.7 inch screen. Unlike a desktop or laptop screen, it’s actually an uncanny feeling to hold somebody’s life-size face in your hands so closely. However, FaceTime is only available on the iPad 2 wifi models. Other Apple apps you can use on your iPad 2 3G include iMovie and GarageBand (at $4.99 each). It’s the first iPad model to get GarageBand.

There’s a lot of power under the iPad next generation’s hood too. It uses an A5 dual-core processor that makes is two times faster than the previous generation – and graphic performance that is 9 times better quality, which is a pretty good consideration if gaming is important to you.

One feature that trumps the completion is the iPad 2 3G’s full compatibility HDMI AV output. Just use a $39 dock cable, and your iPad 2 can mirror its high-definition output on a TV using a standard HDMI connection. Resolution can go as high as 1080p – and this second generation iPad mirrors everything on the TV. The RM Blackberry Playbook and Motorola Xoom just lost another advantage to Apple.

Notice the high number of customer reviews and high star rating of the iPad 3G + Wifi

You will notice at the chart at the left hand side has many fans who have decided to come back and leave a review about the Apple iPad 2 3G + Wifi model.

iPad 2 Wifi

Model: Apple iPad 2 Wifi

Apple iPad 2 Wifi Review

The Apple iPad 2 wifi has a slight evolutionary advantage over its predecessor, but it’s enough for this second generation iPad to stay ahead of its completion, even it’s only a thin line that separates from the rest of the tablet field. The iPad 2 can do a lot more if some more improvements are made, though it does deliver a satisfying tablet experience at an attractive price for iPad.
What’s good: The Apple iPad 2 wifi is much thinner, has a faster processor, offers you the luxury of having front and rear cameras, and gives you 3G options for Verizon and AT&T, and Face-Time video chat.

What’s bad: Photo quality won’t get you any awards, the screen resolution stayed the same, you’ll need adapters for the USB, SD, and HDMI ports, and Adobe Flash support is still missing.

Bottom line: The iPad 2 wifi is a refinement of an excellent product. Its extensive app catalog, extra long-life battery, and easy-to-use interface keep Apple’s claim to having the best tablet in market ring true.
The rest of the tablet field must really hate Apple’s guts. The iPad wasn’t just another tablet computer on the market in 2010 – the iPad defined what a tablet computer should be. In one swoop, Apple introduced a new gadget on the hi-tech market and tens of millions responded by buying an iPad the rest of the year. The company did it in spite of sizable skepticism thrown its way, and a global economic slump.

The iPad 2 wifi now comes in both black and white versions in all types and price configurations. You can get an iPad purchase of the base model starting at $499, which gives you data storage of 16GB and connect to the Internet using Wi-Fi. If you want to store more data and more applications for your music, videos, and photos then you have a choice between the $635.99 64GB iPad 2 models or the $500 32GB iPad 2.

If you want freedom to surf the Internet anywhere, then you need to add a 3G cellular connection which can set you back about $130 for all three iPad wifi models, and of course, monthly carrier fees. You have a choice between AT&T or Verizon as your carrier, but you need to choose carefully because you can’t change carriers on the iPad version you originally select.
Apple stuck to its successful formula with the faster, thinner, 2-camera iPad 2 wifi. And you get the same excellent iPad quality – price, size, capacity, and general features all around.

You can see the high number of ratings and high star rating of the Apple iPad Wifi

As you can notice on the left at the chart, the iPad wifi has a lot of raving fans who have decided to come back and leave a nice review.
